Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

One important study about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is the O’Reardon et al. (2007) study, published in Biological Psychiatry. This randomized controlled trial evaluated the efficacy of TMS in patients with major depressive disorder who had not responded to antidepressant medications. The study found that TMS significantly reduced depressive symptoms compared to the placebo group, with many patients achieving marked improvement or remission, thereby establishing TMS as a viable and effective treatment option for treatment-resistant depression.
